Service Description

Art 1 is our signature after-school and weekend programme for children aged 5–12 — a carefully designed curriculum that introduces young artists to a wide range of materials, techniques and creative approaches. Through a blend of guided projects and independent exploration, children learn to develop their ideas, build their skills and express themselves with confidence. What children learn Each term, children explore both 2D and 3D art, working across a rich rotation of mediums such as: • drawing & sketching • acrylic and watercolour painting • collage & mixed media • clay & simple sculpture • printmaking and stamping • pastels, inks and charcoal Projects are age-appropriate and thoughtfully designed to spark imagination while introducing core artistic foundations. How the sessions work Every class begins with a short warm-up activity that builds essential visual skills such as: • fine motor control • visual memory • observation • colour awareness • shape and spatial understanding These gentle, engaging starters prepare children for the main project while helping them grow artistically week by week. The main project changes each term, ranging from clay tiles and character design to themed paintings, collages, or printmaking explorations. Each child works at their own level and pace, so both beginners and confident young artists feel supported and challenged. Our teaching approach Our educators guide children with a balance of structure and freedom — demonstrating new techniques, encouraging experimentation and offering individual support throughout each session. The goal is not perfection, but confidence, curiosity and creative growth. Materials & outcomes All materials are included. At the end of each term, children take home a collection of artworks that reflect their progress, their interests and their growing creative voice.
