Art Focus - Themed Afternoons

Deep-dive creative sessions exploring specific themes, techniques and artistic concepts (Ages 5–16)

Service Description

Art Focus is a specialised programme for children and teens who want to explore a particular artistic theme or technique in depth. Each block is built around a curated focus — such as character design, colour theory, sculpture, printmaking, illustration, or a featured artist — giving students the chance to slow down, experiment and build new skills with intention. Unlike our weekly Art 1 and Art 2 classes, which cover a broad rotation of mediums, Art Focus zooms in on one area at a time, offering a more immersive, project-led experience. What students explore Each Art Focus cycle centres on a single theme, for example: • character & creature design • advanced drawing or illustration techniques • colour exploration & expressive painting • clay, modelling & 3D form • printmaking & pattern • collage & mixed media storytelling • studying a specific artist or movement • nature-inspired art • architecture & perspective • fashion illustration or design basics This flexibility allows students to experience art in a fresh, engaging way — while still developing strong foundational skills. How the sessions work Each class begins with a short warm-up or creative prompt to get ideas flowing. Students then spend the rest of the session working on a themed project that builds across the weeks. Throughout the programme, they learn how to: • experiment with new techniques • make creative decisions • explore composition and aesthetics • analyse reference images and artists • refine details and finish work beautifully Because the theme stays consistent across the block, students experience a deeper creative process and produce more considered work. A multi-age creative space Art Focus is open to ages 5–16, with projects tailored individually to suit younger and older students: • Younger artists (5–9) receive more guidance and step-by-step technique support. • Older students (10–16) are encouraged to experiment, take creative risks, and push concepts further. This makes Art Focus an inspiring environment where different ages learn side-by-side, each at their own level. Our teaching approach Sessions are led by experienced art educators who guide students through demonstrations, creative prompts and individual feedback. We encourage curiosity, personal interpretation and artistic confidence — helping each student develop their own creative style. Materials & outcomes All materials are included. Students complete one or more themed artworks durin
