Service Description

Art 1 is our signature weekly art class for children aged 5–12 — a thoughtfully planned programme that introduces young artists to a wide range of materials, techniques and creative ideas. Through guided projects and supported exploration, children build confidence, develop practical skills and learn to express themselves through art. WHAT CHILDREN EXPLORE Across the term, children work with both 2D and 3D processes through imaginative weekly themes. Sessions may include drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, clay, mixed media and seasonal or themed projects inspired by portraits, animals, landscapes, cities, food, sport and summer scenes. WHAT CHILDREN LEARN Each class helps children strengthen core art skills such as observation, colour mixing, composition, texture, shape and creative decision-making. Projects are designed to be age-appropriate and engaging, helping children build strong artistic foundations while developing their own ideas and confidence. HOW THE SESSIONS WORK Each session begins with a short warm-up or introduction to the day’s theme, materials or technique. Children are then guided through the main activity with plenty of encouragement, individual support and space for personal interpretation. This balance of structure and freedom helps both beginners and more confident young artists feel supported. OUR TEACHING APPROACH Our educators guide children with warmth, clarity and encouragement — demonstrating new techniques, supporting experimentation and helping each child work at their own pace. The focus is on creativity, confidence and growth rather than perfect results. MATERIALS & OUTCOMES All materials are included. By the end of the term, children take home a collection of artworks that reflect their progress, imagination and growing creative voice.
