Service Description

A fun, hands-on weekly drop-in workshop for children aged 6+, where creativity meets cake decorating and sugarcraft. Based at The Art Loft in Putney, London, each session focuses on a different themed project. Children learn how to shape, model and decorate using icing and simple sugarcraft techniques, creating colourful pieces to take home at the end of the class. Projects may include unicorns and rainbows, animals, flowers, seasonal characters and other imaginative designs. No previous experience is needed, and children can join individual sessions without committing to a full term. What Students Learn Depending on the weekly theme, children may explore: * shaping and modelling icing by hand * creating simple 3D figures and decorations * combining basic shapes to build characters and objects * working with colour and decorative details * creating facial features and expressions * adding texture, pattern and finishing touches * using simple sugarcraft tools and techniques * planning and assembling a finished creation * developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination A New Project Each Week Sugarcraft & Icing is designed as a drop-in workshop, with each session centred around a complete project. Themes change throughout the term, giving children the opportunity to try different ideas and techniques while choosing the sessions that appeal to them most. Creativity Through Sugarcraft Although children are introduced to specific techniques, there is plenty of room for personal interpretation. Students can choose colours, details and decorative elements to make their creations individual. We encourage experimentation and imagination rather than expecting every finished piece to look exactly the same. Our Teaching Approach Each stage is demonstrated clearly, with guidance and support throughout the session. The workshops combine step-by-step instruction with creative freedom, helping children build confidence, patience and attention to detail in a relaxed and playful environment. Materials & Outcomes All materials and sugarcraft tools needed for the session are included. Each child finishes the workshop with their own completed sugarcraft creation to take home.
